Moxie Cafe has always had the mindset of being “one” with our community. Fundraisers and charities are not, in our mind, simply a means to expand our brand in the public eye, but a means for us as a company to give back to the community that has blessed us over the years. We are always seeking out new opportunities to get involved and improve the community as we are in turn part of it.
With that being said, we are pleased to announce our participation in the Tip-A-Cop program in conjunction with the Santa Maria Police Department and Special Olympics of Northern Santa Barbara County. This will be our first time hosting one of these dinners but it is in fact the 30th anniversary year for the Tip-A-Cop program which has raised thousands upon thousands of dollars throughout the country supporting local Special Olympic groups.
Local Law Enforcement will join us at the Moxie on April 28th, 2016, as they deliver meals to patrons and accept tips for our local Special Olympic athletes. 100% of all tips given to the officers will be given to the Special Olympics to benefit their program as they continue their great heritage of competition and love for those with special needs.
The Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year round activities and competition for over 4.5 million athletes in over 170 countries. Since 1968, the Special Olympics has served as a beacon of love and hope to those who often are treated discouragingly by the world at large. Their motto, “Let me win, but if I cannot win let me brave in the attempt”, shows that while competition exists, it should never come at the cost of treating others as inferior. It is this message of love and acceptance that has allowed the Special Olympics to make a lasting impact, not only on the world as a whole, but in each and every community it is active in.
We at the Moxie are proud to stand alongside our local Santa Maria Police to help raise money for this noble organization. We sincerely hope you will join us on April 28th from 4:00- 8:00 pm to help support not only the Special Olympics, but most importantly, the athletes of your community whose lives have been forever changed by their ability to participate.
